Concept of 'Every Time You Go'
Focusing on the concept of relationships is easy because there are lots of examples but difficult to make something post-modern and unique. I would like the video to illustrate the concept of relationships, breaking up and moving on, but I want an abstract feel to the general image.
As Indie-Pop is quite abstract, unusual and strange I want the video to look very creative, diverse and experimental to portray the youthfulness of relationships and to attract my target audience.
For the lighting, I want a contrast of lights; dark and bright to show the change of a relationship, and the change in time.
There are a range of camera shots, angles and movements that I will use in my music video but I will use high angle shots to show the vulnerability of the artist and low angle shots to illustrate that as time goes on the artist is become stronger.
With the locations I may decide on using a bedroom, an open field...

Planning Documents
As part of the BTEC Media course, we are a company called
‘Attack Promo’ who has to create and produce a music video for ‘aheM! Recording
Co.’ In order to be successful in making the music video, planning documents
are required so that we are able to follow and refer back to them.
Shooting Schedule:
I wrote down what was happening in the shot and also the camera angles and the movement of the shot. The shooting schedule enabled me to stay on track with what
I was going to film on what particular day and time. This planning helped me keep focused what I needed to film so that I would avoid shooting needless shots and this made the whole process much quicker. Therefore, I was able to
clearly see what I had and hadn’t filmed. On top of this, it told me what
location I should be shooting in, what actors, props, costumes, and equipment I
required for that scene. When editing, it also helped me know how long the duration of the shot needed to be by cutting down the shots to the appropriate length of time.
Storyboard:
Creating a storyboard helped me during the process of
creating my music video as it told me what I was filming for example the length
of time I wished to film a shot for or what the shot consisted of. It helped me
know clearly what was going to happen in the shots, the camera angles and I was
able to refer to what costumes and props that was required in the shots. I drew and planned on the shooting schedule sheets as a guide to what I wanted to film and how long the shot would last for. The
storyboard allowed me to look quickly at the sheet and set up the camera the
way I wanted then I was able to check whether it looked good or not. Although I
made some changes, I was able to write what I was going to change the shot for.
Props, costume and make up:
Using this planning document allowed me to plan what costume and make-up I wanted Nicole to wear in each scene and explained in detail why I chose them. I also gave her a costume list beforehand so that we had time to look at her clothes and buy more if need be. I believe that planning this in advance helps organise time and gives you time to refine if something needs to be improved.

Location:
In order to plan what location I would film in, I used the Location Visit sheet to plan where I would like to film and why the place was suitable for the music video. It included the consent and permission, health and safety aspects to consider and other factors such as the address and a map of the location. Having this planned helped me decide if the locations were practical to film in, it was very clear and told me what lighting to consider in that location as this can affect how the music video looks. It helped avoiding obstacles for example, the time you use the space, to avoid clashes if the location was being used already so you didn't have to reschedule.
Treatment:
The treatment concluded every aspect of the music video for example, locations, costumes, budgeting, the structure of the music video etc. It is important to think about the cost of the video as I didn't want it to be too expensive to produce it e.g. the amount of miles I would travel to film, the cost of the technology, editing and of props too. Rules and regulations were also stated in this document which is important to consider so that the process of the music video runs smoothly.

Proposal:
The proposal planned out all of the aspects of the music video which included the date of the music video, the client and stated all of the factors such as the purpose of the music video, location, actors, costumes and technology I would be using to produce the video. This form of planning helped me summarise my intentions and concept and how I was going to create the music video. More importantly, I wrote about the audience's perceptive of the video and how the factors I have used will affect the audience in order for the artist and music video to be successful.
Risk Assessment:
The risk assessment made me consider how the locations chosen for the music video could become hazardous to the artist and also the equipment being used. I had to acknowledge if the weather conditions were bad, how it would affect the camera, Nicole and myself. This planning document made me aware of the dangers in the environment and make us take caution so that we were safe.
Risk Assessment Rushes Log: The Rushes Log allowed me to decide whether the shot was appropriate for the music video. On top of this, it made the process a lot easier to find clips instead of watching all of them to find the one I wanted to use. Although some shots did not work, keeping them and filing them into the rushes log was always a fall back if I wanted to use them for quick shots.
Here is a GIF image of me using the rushes log to edit my music video.

Paper Edit: For me, the paper edit helped me to order and structure my music video. It was a great guide to put the clips into place on Final Cut however, I did change the order of the clips in order to improve the look of the video.
