Focus Group
These are the questions that I asked the people in the interview:
1. Did you think that the dance course was presented well within 30 seconds?
2. Does the course appeal to the target audience of students in year 10 and 11?
3. Does the course appeal to you?
4. Do you remember anything in particular about the academy?
5. Do you remember the logo of the dance academy?
6. Did you think there were a variety of shots?
7. What shots did you like?
8. Did you think the music worked well in the advertisement?
9. What did you dislike about the advertisement?
10. Would you take the dance course?

Glenthorne High School Sixth Form Academy for Dance Advertisement
This is the finalised advertisement after creating a draft which was refined to make this. Once I had edited the draft version and was happy with the editing and the length of the advert, I exported the final cut project and uploaded the clip to YouTube. I am happy with the outcome as it meets the requirements of the brief and is ready to be evaluated and analysed by myself and my target audience by doing a focus group and handing out questionnaires.
Edit Decision List
When editing my advertisement, I chose the clips that I thought were best and the ones that fitted together with flow. At the beginning, the duration of my advertisement was too long which totaled to 55 seconds, so I cut down unnecessary parts to decrease the length of time. I believe the edit decision list helped me edit my advertisement as it enabled my to improve the advert and was a great and easy layout to go by when cutting the clips down to reach my time of 30 seconds.
Rushes Log
Once I had filmed my rushes, I created a rushes log in order for me to decide what clips I was going to include within my advert. I went through every shot I had filmed, describing the detail in the clip, recording the length the clip lasted for and wrote a small sentence whether the clip were usable. This planning document helped me decide what I wanted to use and what was convenient.

Draft Advertisement for GHS Sixth Form Academy for Dance
This is my rough edit of my advertisement and I am going to analyse it myself so I can make improvements for the final advert. Firstly, the advertisement is very long and exceeds the time given; it should be 25-30 seconds, so I can change this by cutting unnecessary parts within in the advert to decrease the time length. Some of the shots are too long, and I believe that it would be more professional if the clips were cut down because the shots will appear more interesting and the audience will not get bored. The voice over is not very loud so this needs to be changed so that it is more predominant rather than the music. However, I think that advert is good because it includes a lot of information and shows all of the contents within the course.
I have received feedback from my client and they have given me ways to improve the advertisement for the Dance academy. These are the points that I need to improve on:
- Images should link more closely to what the voice over is saying
- The advert is too long and needs to be cut to 25-30 seconds
- The sound balance between the voice over and accompaniment
- More prominent logo

Script
Hello, I am Dance student at Glenthorne High School Sixth Form and I am going to give you an insight in what it is like to take on the dance academy subject.
As part of this course, you will learn Contemporary and Modern dance training, which will technically train you and develop you as a dancer. You will learn and choreograph material and this is examined at the end of the AS and A2 year resulting in you receiving fantastic grades.
As well as practically training, you will learn the theory element of Dance, which will improve your knowledge within the history of dance and the current dance industry with confidence.
The modern facilities are always accessible to the Dance students like our dance studios and drama rooms that are rigged with professional lights and use great sound systems. Here, you can be sure that you will always receive support from teachers and peers.
At the end of the two years, you will have planned and mapped out what you would like to achieve in terms of university, vocational colleges or auditions.
Glenthorne High School Sixth Form Academy for Dance
Preparing you for a career in dance.
This work is the script of what I am going to say in the advertisement. I created this from researching what the contents of the dance course were from the website and visiting one of the academy dance classes. I then changed the wording slightly to make the text sound as if a student was talking to an audience, for example, the opening when the student says 'Hello, I am a dance student at GHS'. At the end, I put the slogan in to complete the advertisement. Writing the script out allowed me to read out all of what the course does when creating my animatics.
Location Visit Sheet
The location visit sheet is very useful as it plans out what you are required to do when filming the rushes in the locations selected. It states when you are able to access the space which is handy as the location is not always accessible at all times. It also states who you need to ask permission off and the type of lighting. The health and safety precautions tell you what you need to be cautious and aware of when filming to ensure the actors and the crew are safe within the environment.
