Dance Student:
They will wear their hair down, with casual sixth form clothing that is within the school rules for example, a simple top with leggings.

Dance Soloist:
The soloist will wear the Glenthorne High School Dance tops to promote the school logo and the dance academy with black leggings and bare foot to display that the style that is taught here is Contemporary. The dancer’s hair must be tided back to show that we encourage safe practice within the course.

Teachers:
The teachers will wear formal wear to show the professionalism of the school or dance wear to show that the course is very practical.

Students in theory class:
These students will wear casual sixth form clothing that is within the school rules.

Student in the library:
These students will wear casual sixth form clothing that is within the school rules.

Props:
Chairs, tables, white/interactive board, paper/exercise books, stationary.

Using the costume and props list was very useful as it stated what I would need in the shots, helping me stay organised and made the process of filming quicker as we had all of the costumes and props ready. Beforehand, I also gave a costume list to the actors and actresses so that they could come in the correct wear (dance wear) saving time and money.

Three Ideas

Research into the academy

Dance Academy at Glenthorne High School

I have researched into the Dance academy at Glenthorne High School and discovered that its aim is to prepare the student for the dance industry in terms of training, however, at the same time studying the theoretical element of dance.

At Glenthorne, the student will be able to learn Contemporary and Modern dance training whist learning the academic study, which will vastly improve the student’s knowledge within both practical and theoretical. The academy course sets up the student to enter the dance industry with confidence and a great understanding due to professional artists that work with in the classes every term. Furthermore, the Dance course gives the students a fantastic opportunity to form your own dance company and work using the up-to-date facilities for example the modern studios made especially for Dance.

At the end of the two years at Glenthorne High School, the student will receive high A-Level or BTEC grades in specific styles and genres. As well as taking the dance course, the student can pick two – three other subjects that the sixth form offers.

Over the course of two years, the student will be able to map out what they would like to achieve and do in the following years in terms of university, vocational colleges or auditions.

The information on the website promotes all aspects of the course clearly and specifically targets the young students and parents by using terminology in order to express the knowledge the sixth form has on the world of dance.
